Lets take some time out to discuss and speculate the upcoming game, The Conduit's online component.
This game is by far, the best chance of having a true hardcore gaming experience, and the online component will affect the game heavily. Hotheads with the Xbox 360, right now have the best Online system, with PS3 far behind and.. the Wii far behind the PS3.

Gameplay. High Voltage Software, will most likely add some unique features into the Online modes, the most obvious "unique" feature to their FPS, would be their signature ASE (All Seeing Eye) which will be used in the campaign as a "puzzle solver", if it was to appear online, it might be used to activate certain rooms to lock up and explode, killing anyone in that specific room. That would be pretty damn sweet. Maybe even a spoofy mode, of a modified version of Hide And Seek, The Grudge must make it to a specific spot, while humans are equiped with the ASE while they scan through the AI crowds using the ASE attempting to find and gun down the enemies online.
Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and Capture the flag are already set down, but High Voltage Software has promised many more to come. But how will these modes flow? Maybe like Counter Strike, a slow paced tactical game, relying heavily on headshots or a fast paced flow like Unreal Tournament - everything is going 100miles per hour, in your face, jump and shoot style. Personally, I think the Unreal scheme suits The Conduit, and I'd much rather a fast run 'n gun gameplay.

Maps...incorporating open end maps for The Conduit online, may be a problem, as the controls and aiming, doesn't seem to work with long range shooting. But who wants a set of maps all being a small size. Variety would be nice, that said, I HATE maps being ported from the campaign, as one too many games do that, such as the Call Of Duty franchise. Hopefully, HVS are creating unique maps just for Online, and online only. I also love maps that takes days and days to get used to, such as Counter Strike. Maps that have specific hiding spots, routes and glitches to gain the upper hand on the enemy, that'll expand the replay value for sure.
The thing I "fantasise" about most, is a awesome online system, equipped with a lobby, for such purposes as chatting via the WiiMote or Wiichat, adding friends WITHOUT entering blasted 24million numbers, Ranking system, joining friends ingame, creating a server etc.
How will the Wiichat work tho? Will the mic be on 24/7, or must you press the + button to speak? The Conduit will also be the first game to actually test the Wiichat's capabilites, as Animal Crossing, had minimal game noise, how will the Wiichat cope with loud bang bang noises and such?

Well, all our questions will be answered in a month, as the hotly anticipated game releases next month.
